Elisha House is a recovery project founded in Colne, East Lancashire, in 2016 by a local couple passionate about giving back to their community.

At Elisha House we recognise addiction is a complex illness. We provide a safe, supportive environment and evidence based interventions which promote healing from trauma and the drivers of substance misuse.

As a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO), our approach is rooted in empathy and understanding. Our dedicated team, many of whom have lived experience with addiction and recovery, provides 24/7 support to adult males with a history of substance misuse.

Currently, we support 31 residents across the three stages of our project. Our mission is to assist individuals in achieving abstinence from all substances, including alcohol, while reconnecting with their families, building meaningful friendships, and exploring new passions.

A lot can change with the right support, hard work, and people around you who believe in you.

Stuart came through the Elisha House project, got clean, and completely turned his life around. Today, he works across Elisha House and surrounding projects as a painter and decorator, while also taking on private jobs of his own.

Seeing people rebuild their confidence, learn new skills, and create a future for themselves is what it’s all about. Proud of you Stuart 👏🎨

💪 Tough Mudder for a Cause 💪

On 26th July, 20 members of our amazing community will be taking on the challenge of Tough Mudder to raise vital funds for our Youth Project and CrossFit Colne Community Gym.

These projects provide opportunities, support, and positive pathways for young people and members of our wider community, helping to improve physical health, mental wellbeing, confidence, and connection.

We’re delighted to say that we’re almost halfway to our fundraising target, but we still have a long way to go. Every pound raised will help us continue and expand this important work.

No donation is too small – every contribution counts and every share helps us reach more people.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. Together, we’re making a real difference.

If you’d like to support our team, please donate using the link below and help us reach our goal.

There are sponsorship opportunities for local businesses also if you want to feature in the run up to the event and on the day on all our socials.

Recovery is possible, and Hussain’s story is proof of that.

Hussain joined Elisha House in 2021 at a point where he felt completely lost and struggling to see a way forward. In his own words, he had reached rock bottom and felt like he couldn’t carry on.

Since then, he has completed his 12 Step journey, is now over 4 years clean, works as a key worker at Elisha House supporting others through recovery, and has even started his own business in Burnley.

This video shares a little bit about that journey, the challenges he faced, and the life he has rebuilt since.

Stories like Hussain’s remind people that no matter how difficult things feel, change is possible, and nobody has to do it alone 💙

Good little first run out for our lads against the Thomas Project.

Final score was very flattering for them 🙂 (0-6)

All played in the best of spirits - hopefully plenty more football to come through the summer.

Opening Saturdays from this week 🙂

Elisha House was the backbone for my recovery process. Because of the ongoing nature of the support and friendships I made I was able to focus and distract myself away from the addictions which had a hold on me previously.

Resident John

I've made friends for life here. The range of activities has also helped me transform my life.

Resident Kevin

Working at Elisha House gives me so much pleasure and sense of achievement. To see people transform their lives and to know you've been a part of that is something really special.
