with a history of substance misuse
Elisha House is a recovery project founded in Colne, East Lancashire, in 2017 by a local couple passionate about giving back to their community.
As a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO), our approach is rooted in empathy and understanding. Our dedicated team, many of whom have lived experience with addiction and recovery, provides 24/7 support to adult males with a history of substance misuse.
Currently, we support 31 residents across the three stages of our project. Our mission is to assist individuals in achieving abstinence from all substances, including alcohol, while reconnecting with their families, building meaningful friendships, and exploring new passions.

Getting involved in projects like this helps build routine, responsibility and a sense of purpose - as well as giving something positive back to the community. Small steps like these all play a part in supporting recovery and moving forward.

Kevin, Benji and Andrew have all completed the first stage of our behaviour change programme and are now ready to move on to the next step.
Stage two shifts the focus towards education, training and employment, building on the work they’ve already put in. Keep going lads - you’re on the right track. 👏
What most people didn’t see was the private battle he was fighting.
For a long time, Peter managed to function while struggling with addiction, convincing himself that everything was fine… until it wasn’t. A moment in his life forced him to stop and really look at where things were heading.
Coming to Elisha House marked the start of a very different chapter - one rooted in honesty,
accountability, and rebuilding from the inside out.
This is only part of his story - the rest is best heard from Peter himself. We’re proud of you Peter, a beautiful life ahead mate! 💙
Have the best day Emma lots of love from all your Elisha Family 💚
Elisha House was the backbone for my recovery process. Because of the ongoing nature of the support and friendships I made I was able to focus and distract myself away from the addictions which had a hold on me previously.
Resident John
I've made friends for life here. The range of activities has also helped me transform my life.
Resident Kevin
Working at Elisha House gives me so much pleasure and sense of achievement. To see people transform their lives and to know you've been a part of that is something really special.
